Next it was necessary to combine everything I had discovered through research and specifically trend analysis thus far. I used illustrator to create a 2D collage of initial ideas, including colour swatches for the four-colour combination, innovations, possible use, and fabric swatches, components such as buttons and zippers and imagery that reflect the quirky elements of the trend.
Key wording was also used to highlight the chief aspects of the trend direction. For example: storytelling, resourceful, simulated, rural tints, inventive, quirky, and abstract.
This was printed and mounted ready for presentation. I also put an annotated version of this in the sketchbook to show thought process, both in development and design.
What next?
This must be used as a starting point in the design process. I must start to implement these concepts into different templates, using the colour ways and Missguided ‘miss’ as key focal points in the design.
